श्रीगणेश को नमस्कार।

Salutations to Lord Ganesha.

श्रीजानकी के प्रिय श्रीराम की जय हो।

Glory to Lord Rama, the beloved of Janaki.

अक्षरों, अर्थसमूहों, रसों और छंदों के भी—

Of letters, collections of meanings, poetic sentiments, and metres too—

और मंगलों के रचयिता दोनों, सरस्वती और गणेश, को मैं प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to Saraswati and Ganesha, the two makers of these and of auspiciousness.

मैं श्रद्धा और विश्वास के स्वरूप भवानी और शंकर को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to Bhavani and Shankara, embodiments of reverence and trust.

जिन दोनों के बिना सिद्धजन भी अपने अंतःकरण में स्थित ईश्वर को नहीं देख पाते।

Without these two, even perfected adepts do not perceive God dwelling within their own hearts.

मैं ज्ञानस्वरूप, नित्य और शंकररूप गुरु को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to the guru, the embodiment of knowledge, eternal and in the form of Shankara.

जिनका आश्रय लेने से टेढ़ा चंद्रमा भी निश्चय ही सर्वत्र वंदित होता है।

By taking refuge in whom, even the curved moon is indeed honoured everywhere.

सीता और राम के गुणसमूह रूपी पवित्र वन में विहार करने वाले दोनों को—

To the two who roam the sacred forest of Sita’s and Rama’s manifold virtues—

मैं विशुद्ध ज्ञान वाले कवियों के स्वामी वाल्मीकि और वानरों के स्वामी हनुमान को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to Valmiki, lord of poets, and Hanuman, lord among monkeys, both possessing pure knowledge.

उत्पत्ति, पालन और संहार करने वाली तथा क्लेश हरने वाली—

To her who brings about creation, preservation, and dissolution, and removes afflictions—

समस्त कल्याण करने वाली, राम की प्रिया सीता को मैं नमन करता हूँ।

I bow to Sita, Rama’s beloved, who brings every blessing.

जिनकी माया के अधीन समस्त विश्व तथा ब्रह्मा आदि देवता और असुर हैं—

Under whose illusion-power the entire universe, and gods beginning with Brahma as well as demons, remain—

जिनकी सत्ता से यह सब सत्य-सा दिखाई देता है, जैसे रस्सी में साँप का भ्रम।

Through whose existence all this appears real, like the illusion of a snake in a rope.

संसार-सागर पार करने की इच्छा रखने वालों के लिए जिनके चरण ही एकमात्र नौका हैं—

Whose feet alone are the boat for those wishing to cross the ocean of worldly existence—

मैं उन राम नाम वाले प्रभु हरि को प्रणाम करता हूँ, जो समस्त कारणों से परे हैं।

I bow to that Lord Hari, called Rama, who is beyond all causes.

जो विविध पुराणों, वेदों और आगमों से सम्मत है—

That which is approved by various Puranas, Vedas, and Agamas—

जो रामायण में कहा गया है, और कहीं-कहीं अन्य स्रोतों से भी लिया गया है—

Which is related in the Ramayana, with some material also drawn from other sources—

अपने अंतःकरण के सुख के लिए तुलसी रघुनाथ की कथा का—

For the joy of his own heart, Tulsi unfolds the story of Raghunatha—

लोकभाषा में अत्यंत सुंदर काव्यबद्ध रूप विस्तार से रचते हैं।

He composes its exceedingly beautiful poetic rendering in the vernacular.

जिनका स्मरण करने से सिद्धि मिलती है, वे गणों के नायक, श्रेष्ठ हाथी के मुख वाले गणेश—

Ganesha, leader of the hosts, with the face of a noble elephant, whose remembrance brings success—

वे ही बुद्धि के भंडार और शुभ गुणों के निवास गणेश कृपा करें।

May that Ganesha, treasury of wisdom and abode of auspicious qualities, bestow grace.

मूक बोलने में कुशल हो जाता है और लँगड़ा दुर्गम विशाल पर्वत चढ़ जाता है—

The mute becomes eloquent, and the lame climbs a great, inaccessible mountain—

जिनकी कृपा से ऐसा होता है, वे दयालु प्रभु, कलियुग के सभी पापों को जलाने वाले, द्रवित हों।

May that compassionate Lord, by whose grace this happens and who burns away all impurities of the age of Kali, be moved to mercy.

जो नीले कमल के समान श्याम हैं और जिनके नेत्र नए खिले लाल कमल जैसे हैं—

He who is dark like a blue lotus and whose eyes resemble freshly blossomed red lotuses—

वे क्षीरसागर में शयन करने वाले प्रभु सदा मेरे हृदय को अपना निवास बनाएँ।

May that Lord who reclines in the ocean of milk always make my heart his abode.

जिनका शरीर कुंद-पुष्प और चंद्रमा के समान उज्ज्वल है, जो उमा के पति और करुणा के धाम हैं—

He whose body is white like jasmine and the moon, Uma’s consort and the abode of compassion—

जिन्हें दीनों से प्रेम है, वे कामदेव का दमन करने वाले शिव कृपा करें।

May Shiva, subduer of the god of love, who loves the lowly, bestow grace.

मैं करुणा के समुद्र, मानव रूप में हरि, गुरु के चरणकमलों को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to the lotus feet of the guru, an ocean of compassion and Hari in human form.

जिनके वचन महामोह के घने अंधकार के लिए सूर्य की किरणों का समूह हैं।

Whose words are a host of sunbeams against the dense darkness of profound delusion.
